David’s family immigrated to the United States as refugees from Afghanistan in the early 80’s and he witnessed first hand how the human spirit can overcome the greatest obstacles. He found these lessons echoing through the voice of John Lennon, Marvin Gaye, and Bob Marley. It was then that the young David found his calling, emulating note for note a rendition of ‘Hey Jude’ which was to be his first public performance at 11 years old.
It was in high school that David began experimenting with songwriting, channeling artists like Kurt Cobain, Thom Yorke and Stephan Jenkins. After graduating high school, David headed to college in San Diego where he attended San Diego State University before deciding to pack his things up, dedicate himself to his talents, and pursue his dream in the City of Angels.
After graduating from the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, David came to the Bay Area searching for a more vibrant and genuine music scene. With childhood favorites The Beatles, U2 and the Police as his guide, David draws from his travels and experiences to create music rich in emotion, authenticity and life.
Featuring vocals with emotionally-laced melodic control, reminiscent of Brandon Boyd and Amos Lee, David’s music is not only thought-provoking, but viscerally moving. With an ear for great rhythm, intricate lyricism and a relentless drive for quality, David now walks the road he always dreamed of.
